When is a Sewage Lift Pump Necessary?

A sewage lift pump is a device designed to move waste from an area of low ground to an area of higher ground. The pump consists of a holding well in which all the drains of the home empty into this tank for later removal. A pump will be attached to this well either on top or submersed in the well itself. There will also be a float housed in this well. Once the sewage reaches a certain point inside the holding well, it will activate the pump which will drain the sewage from the tank and send it into the main sewer lines.

There are many homes which need to have these sewage pumps installed. These pumps have made building in areas once off-limits viable again. By being able to pump waste uphill from the home, houses are able to be built well below main sewer lines.
