When we installed our patio, we had to remove a window that was at the front of our house, otherwise we would have had no way of accessing the deck. So we removed the window and replaced it with a big glass sliding door. We got all this done in the middle of summer, and didn’t give much thought to all the cold air those doors would be letting in on those chilly winter nights we get.
As the nights started getting cooler, we started looking around at what was available, but it really turned out to be a no brainer. The only style of blind that works in this situation are vertical ones. They slide open all the way to the back of your door and still allow you to enjoy the view out your sliding door when the suns out, while giving you complete blockage and privacy at night. Our patio door blinds were surprisingly easy to install, we did it ourselves and saved a bundle.
