Arthritis is characterized as being an inflammation of the joints. It is a painful condition and can be caused by several different factors. Many people who have arthritis suffer from one or more problems that contribute to or cause arthritis. The causes of arthritis include: genetics, age, weight, injury, specific jobs, some sports, and even illness or infection.

It’s not totally understood how genetics effects the likelihood that someone will get arthritis, however it is noted that it arthritis often runs in families and there is likely a genetic cause.
As we age the cartilage that insulates that the joints protected the bones from rubbing on one another becomes brittle. It is less likely to heal and the older you get the more likely you are to get arthritis.

Weight causes additional pressure and damage to the joints which can often cause arthritis. Additionally if you have had a previous joint injury this can also cause arthritis in that joint.
Some jobs, such as assembly line workers and heavy construction workers, are also likely to get arthritis because there joints go through a lot of wear and tear as they perform their jobs. The same can be said of some sports which can cause wear and tear on the joints and injury as well.

There are also some medical conditions which can cause arthritis. This includes joint infections and gout. While we don’t yet know how to prevent arthritis or heal it, knowing the causes of arthritis can make it easier to access your risk.
