Outsourcing Website Maintenance

It seems that the word “outsourcing” has gotten a bad reputation in the last few years. The truth is, people and companies do it all the time. For example, I outsource my oil change to my local quick shop. I outsource my finances to my local bank. I also outsource my food needs to my local grocery store since I don’t have time to run a farm. Most people I know don’t have time to learn to do an oil change or set themselves up as a bank. So we’re each outsourcing things all the time and it’s a win-win for everyone.

So why not outsource website maintenance? I say do it and leave it to the pros. There’s too much now that can go wrong.

Web browsers are always changing versions, for example. When Microsoft comes out with a new web browser, some websites will need to be tweaked in order to look how they’re supposed to. When you update your website, you also want to make sure what you changed looks right in all major web browsers – including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. If you don’t check your site in each browser on each operating system, then some people might not see your website correctly, killing any chance of making the sale or presenting your company’s products and services correctly. If it doesn’t look right, then do you know what to fix?
