Strong winds and heavy rain can damage motorhome awnings, this is a fact of life unfortunately. If you are caught in a storm it is a case of folding away as quickly as possible to avoid further damage occuring. The most common damage is rips and tears to the fabric or canvas, and if left untreated they begin to grow until you have a real problem. You can patch them up yourself by sewing some more fabric over the top, or you can take the awning to your local dealer who can replace whole sections if needed.
Whichever route you choose, you must test the weak point in case it goes again, and try pouring some water over the section to make sure it is still waterproof. You can another patch to the underside of the fabric to give it more support.
