If you can believe it, Christmas is rapidly approaching. That means that you’re going to need to fasten up on some of your finances. Here are some quick money saving tips that can make the Holiday season a little more budget friendly, or save up for it.

Avoid late fees. If you’re racking up unnecessary late fees, stop it! You’re simply burning money by adding late charges to what you owe already. Pay your bills on time. Organize your pay dates if you have to. Where possible, automate your payments so there is no need to remember. If you are not habitually late, there is a good chance that if you call customer service, they will be willing to waive the late fee.

Make gifts yourself. Many people think that you need a special skill to do this, but you don’t. There are many things that are easy to make, and they make wonderful gifts. Make some cookies, or a cake. This will also save you the cost of going to the shopping center to buy expensive, and possibly useless gifts.

Give services as gifts. If you know a young couple, offering to babysit may be 100 times the gift that anything in a store would be worth. You could also offer to take care of pets while a friend or neighbor go away. If you have ever used a kennel, you know how much this one is worth. Not only do these sorts of gifts have an actual financial value (but no cost to you), they are also great gifts from the heart, and that is what the season is really all about.

If you think creatively, it can be easy to have an enjoyable Christmas, without all the debt.
