Green Tea and Exercise

Everyone realizes the relationship between exercise and losing weight.  Exercising helps burns calories, it increases your energy level, and it builds up muscle which can help speed up your metabolism and help you burn more calories even when you are not exercising. The catechin polyphenols that are found in green tea seemingly help stimulate the muscle cells and liver’s utilization of fatty acids. This will then help slow the rate that carbohydrates are used by the body,  allowing for greater endurance and hence longer periods of exercise.  In fact, one study that used green tea extract on laboratory rats found that it increased the length of time that the animals could swim before they became exhausted by as much as one quarter.  This may help solve the mystery between the relationship between green tea and weight loss.
