Understanding Mobile Broadband Contracts

Essentially there are two main types of tariffs that are offered by companies that are in the business of providing mobile broad band. These include pay as you go (PAYG) and contract options with most companies and provider offering both at the same time

The term Pay as you go (PAYG) mobile broadband is a bit misleading in the sense that it does not work the same way that the mobile phone tariffs do. On the contrary the user has to pay up front for credit that gives you a specific amount of mobile broadband time .The duration of the credit will vary from one provider to another but all in all the user is exempted from paying per megabyte (MB) of data the use in effect.. With these services it is likely that there is a limit on the total use.

The advantage of PAYG is that the user is able to cancel without being penalized making this the better option for the user who has not yet made up their mind concerning which broadband is most suitable for them. Yet on the other hand is the fact that the user will have to pay for the mobile broadband dongle up front, and monthly fees may be higher than on longer contracts.

The second type of tariff is the Pay monthly mobile broadband contract where the user must sign up to a direct debit agreement that takes a payment from your bank account on a monthly basis.

Although a good number of providers offer one-month contracts the user still has the obligation to sign up to a monthly direct debit. One is also required to give a notice of cancellation and as such it is not as easy to change providers. It is important to remember that since mobile broadband is still novel technology, the scenes change quite often thus it is important to sign up to a contract that is flexible.
