To experience the thrill and sense of accomplishment of growing plants, many people take on the hobby of gardening. Once tried, many people go one to create flourishing gardens that emanate beauty. Regardless of the size, gardens can always be improved by accenting them with outdoor light fixtures. You may ask why one would need or want to put lights among the plants of their garden, but the answer is simple. Plant life can be obscured from sight after dark, preventing gardeners and their visitors from enjoying it. Exterior lights are safe to use outdoors even in the presence of water.

Despite the appeal of modern style lights which are abundant in the light market, a good deal of gardeners want their garden to represent classical eras. Rustic and classical style lights are all the rage among gardeners because these styles are more representative of what a garden is all about. Lantern lights are one example of a classical era garden lighting solution. Lanterns were commonly used along street sides and lit every night. Modern day lanterns look the same on the outside but are quite different on the inside.

Kerosene flames are replaced by LED or incandescent light bulbs, many of which flicker to simulate candle light. However, some lanterns have a small door on the side from which users can place a small tea light candle inside. Solar powered lantern lights are popular because you don’t have to plug them into a wall. A small solar panel on the top captures energy which is used to power the light at night. Lantern lights usually have amber colored glass or plastic panels from which the light can shine through. More elaborate models have interesting colored panels such as hues of blue or purple. Lanterns almost always have a hook on top from which they can be hung from.
