Car repossessors are pretty determined to get your vehicle once they receive the repossession order. The will usually “bend” the law to allow them to take your vehicle without you knowing but there are certain rules that they cannot bend. One of those rules is verifying that your vehicle is in fact the vehicle that’s up for repossession. They generally do this by verifying the license plate and the VIN of the vehicle. Because license plates can easily be removed checking the VIN on the car is the best way to verify its identity. The VIN on your car is usually located between the dashboard and the windshield on your vehicle. If you were to remove your license play and cover your VIN this could effectively stop repossession altogether. If they can’t positively identify the vehicle they can’t repossess it.
