Thousands of fires are started every year due to these types of blankets catching on fire. This is mainly due to the wiring of these blankets. So before you use your electric blanket, you will want to make sure you check a few things. The first is to check to see if any wires are showing through fabric of the blanket. You can do this by running your fingers along the wiring of the blanket. Another thing you will want to do is make sure you get the right blanket. Some are used just to warm up your bed, not to use throughout the whole night. When in doubt, don’t use the blanket.
