The relatively new concept of concrete resurfacing is becoming a very popular new treatment for floors, walls, and counter tops. There will be no two completely alike, it is in itself an art form. And it can be a very cost effective alternative to marble, granite, and other types of stone and materials that are commonly used.
The initial costs vary depending on the amount of detail you wish to have incorporated in the project. But it is a treatment that, properly maintained, will last for decades. In achieving your unique one of a kind look there are two types of stain that are used. One is a water based acid stain which produces a chemical reaction permanently bonding the stain to the concrete, plus it will never chip or peel. This particular stain will provide a variegated, antiqued or mottled look and will provide a very unique, one of a kind look.
The other type of concrete stain is non-reactive which permeates into the pores of concrete. It is a water based acrylic and does not work through chemical reaction. The look this stain gives is a more uniform look. This type of stain is used more often and has more colors available to choose from. The acid based stain comes in a limited array of colors.
