Gardening Gloves Protect Your Hands

The gardener who works without gloves either has tough skin, or isn’t working very hard! Dirt is great for growing plants, but when you spend two or three hours up to your wrists in it, your skin is going to take a beating. The answer is to own at least one pair of gloves, and preferably four or five types for different tasks. Cotton flannel is the standard protection for trowel and shovel work. You can buy these in big lots at warehouse-type stores and save a lot of money. Try to find the type with nubs on the palms to give you a good grip. When you see how fast you wear them out, you’ll be glad you invested the money in preserving the skin on your hands.
