Medical Billing and Coding Courses

Once you decide to apply to a school for medical billing you will then have a series of medical billing and coding courses to pass in order to gain your certification.   There are a number of courses that make up an entire program but some of the most basic courses you will have to take are:

Understanding claims processing – The claim process is not that difficult but the process but be followed in order so that all parties involved are aware of what procedure was done, when it was done and by whom it was done.  The entire process is often documented at the job site so you become aware of each employers unique process.

Insurance verification – While this often takes place as the patient enters into the office or hospital once you have to submit for billing there are additional steps to verify the participant and whether their current insurance covers the procedures performed.
